Do you offer virtual or in-person appointments?
We offer both! At Step Stone Psychology we offer therapy services in-person at our Downtown Toronto or North York location, as well as online through our secure Client Portal. Let our intake team member know of your service preference during your intake call.
What type of clinicans are on your team?
Services at Step Stone Psychology are offered by a range of clinicians including Registered Psychologists, Psychologists (in supervised practice), Registered Psychotherapists, Registered Social Workers, and Doctoral Associates, as well as Doctoral Residents and Students working under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist.
How long are appointments?
Appointment times can vary depending on your service and will be discussed with you prior to your appointment.
Individual therapy sessions are typically one clinical hour where 50 minutes are spent directly with you and 10 minutes are dedicated to preparation and documentation. Assessment appointments can vary depending on the nature and scope of the assessment and will be discussed with you prior. Group therapy appointments will depend on the group and typically range from 60 to 90 minutes.
What are your fees?
Fees are payable by credit card, cash, cheque or via Internet/e-transfer to be received the day of your appointment just prior to your session start time.
Our practice maintains a 24-hour cancellation policy wherein full session fees will be charged for late cancellations or missed appointments.
Psychological services are typically covered by the majority of extended health insurance plans. Please check with your insurance company to determine your eligibility and coverage.
Our fee structure follows the guidelines set by the Ontario Psychological Association, and the respective governing bodies and associations of our multidisciplinary team members. Fees may vary according to the nature of the services provided and the time required.
Assessment Fees
Fees range based on complexity of the assessment and time required for completion contact us for more details.
Treatment and Psychotherapy Fees
Fees are based on a 50-minute therapy hour and depend upon the type of clinician and level of expertise or type of service offered (e.g., $225-275 for a psychologist, $225 for a psychologist in supervised practice, $160-$180 for a registered Social Worker, $150-$180 for a Registered Psychotherapist, etc.).
We offer a limited sliding scale that ranges from $150 – $275/hr, please contact us for more details.
Student and Trainee Reduced Fees:
Fees are reduced further for clients who are interested in sliding scale work with interns, students, and trainees of Step Stone. Students receive comprehensive regularly scheduled supervision on all cases and are dedicated to providing targeted treatment tailored to your unique needs and goals. Fees range from $110 to $170 see Low Fee Services.
Are services covered by OHIP?
Our services are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) but are often partially or fully covered by extended health benefit/insurance plans. We encourage you to contact your insurer and verify if your eligibility and coverage.
What is your cancellation policy?
A 24 hours notice is required to move or cancel an appointment. If you are booked for an in-person session and prefer to meet virtually, your session can be changed to a virtual appointment at the same scheduled time. Full session fees will be applied for appointments cancelled or missed with less than 24 hours notice.
